Dipped Products PLC (DPL), a prominent global producer of protective gloves and a subsidiary of Hayleys PLC, has launched a fully digital integrated system known as ‘DPL EasyPay.’ This initiative sets a new standard for latex procurement across Sri Lanka’s rubber supply chain.

In partnership with the Hayleys Group Digital Transformation Unit, this program unites more than 4,500 latex farmers and over 40 Smallholder Agents (SHAs), transitioning from a traditionally manual and paper-intensive process to a streamlined, technology-driven approach. DPL’s strong local sourcing model is reflected in the fact that nearly 80% of its latex needs are now met domestically.

The DPL EasyPay platform digitizes the entire procurement process, encompassing latex collection, instant advance payments, transportation, laboratory testing, and final settlements. This transformation minimizes inefficiencies while enhancing speed, precision, and overall visibility. At its foundation is a comprehensive traceability system utilizing QR-code tracking, linking transactions directly from the farmer to the factory. The addition of geo-tagging technology captures exact collection points, allowing real-time monitoring, route management, and improved supply chain planning.

A significant innovation is the use of biometric verification through facial recognition technology, which ensures the authenticity of transactions and reduces risks of impersonation and human error. The system’s integration with SAP allows for real-time financial processing and data synchronization, enhancing accuracy and minimizing the need for manual intervention.

“Our priority was to establish a solid foundation by simplifying the process, ensuring reliability, and maintaining fairness for all participants,” stated Pushpika Janadheera, Managing Director of Dipped Products PLC. “With DPL EasyPay, we gain significantly improved visibility and control over procurement, guaranteeing that our farmers receive faster payments with increased certainty. This operational and ground-level shift brings substantial value.”

Since its launch in August 2025, DPL EasyPay has yielded concrete benefits for farming communities and demonstrated measurable operational improvements. Manual work has been reduced by around 6,200 man-hours each month, and paper consumption has dropped by 90%.

The new system has revolutionized payment timelines, allowing farmers to receive 50% of their payments instantly at the point of latex collection, with the remainder released shortly after the laboratory confirms the Dry Rubber Content (DRC). This expedited cycle has enhanced cash flow, decreased financial uncertainty, and led to a significant rise in DPL’s latex collection volumes in the second and third quarters of 2025 compared to the previous year.

Designed for effective operation in rural areas, the mobile application works offline and syncs data once connectivity is restored, ensuring uninterrupted field operations. Automated SMS notifications and immediate receipts further bolster transparency, providing farmers with prompt confirmation of transactions and payments.

This coordinated initiative was spearheaded by the DPL Procurement Team, with strategic guidance from the DPL Management Committee and implementation support from the Hayleys Group Digital Transformation Unit, Group IT division, and DPL’s IT unit, alongside technology partner Agrithmics and banking partner Hatton National Bank. Farmer awareness campaigns and thorough training facilitated widespread adoption while ensuring compliance with data privacy and regulatory standards.

In recognition of its innovative approach and significant impact, DPL EasyPay has been shortlisted for the Amazon Business Digital Impact Award as part of the World Procurement Awards 2026, showcasing its potential as a model for digital procurement systems worldwide.
