In October 2025, Hayleys PLC announced its strategic move into the supermarket industry in Sri Lanka. Following this announcement, Hayleys Engineering has now finalized the project agreement for the construction of the first supermarket under Hayleys Retail, located in Colombo 10.
The new supermarket will be constructed using a custom-designed steel framework. Hayleys Engineering plans to leverage its comprehensive technical expertise in areas such as engineering design, steel fabrication, civil construction, steel erection, and overall project management to ensure the successful implementation of this specialized project.
This formal agreement marks the beginning of the physical expansion of the Hayleys supermarket chain, laying the groundwork for future developments as Hayleys Engineering gears up to assist in the establishment of additional stores throughout the nation.
