HayWind One Limited, the wind energy division of Hayleys Fentons Limited, has marked a significant achievement in the progress of its 50 MW Wind Farm Project located in Mannar, as the first batch of 25 MW from the total capacity of wind turbines has successfully arrived at Trincomalee Port.
Once the project is fully operational, it is anticipated to provide a substantial amount of renewable energy, contributing to cumulative savings estimated at around Rs. 100 billion in fossil fuel imports over its projected lifespan of 20 years. This initiative aims to enhance national energy security and facilitate Sri Lanka’s shift towards cleaner and more economical energy production.
The wind turbines, produced by Envision Energy Technology Pte Ltd, are set to be transported from Trincomalee to the Mannar project location, with 5 out of the 10 turbines scheduled for immediate transfer. The logistics for moving these turbine components are expected to unfold over the next three months.
This delivery operation is recognized as one of the most complex and largest renewable energy transport initiatives conducted in the nation. The oversized components, including turbine blades, tower sections, and nacelles, will be moved across several districts through meticulously coordinated heavy-haul logistics. This process is backed by thorough engineering evaluations and route planning to ensure the secure transportation of all parts to the Mannar site.
