(HNBGI) has revealed the strategic appointments of Mr. Lakshman Silva as a Non-Executive/Nominee Director and Ms. Sandra De Zoysa as an Independent/Non-Executive Director on its Board of Directors. Mr. Silva’s extensive background in banking, corporate governance, and his proficiency in managing macroeconomic stakeholders will enhance the company’s financial strategy and compliance protocols. Meanwhile, Ms. De Zoysa’s innovative experience in customer experience (CX) and leading digital transformation initiatives is anticipated to be a key driver for progressive changes across HNB General Insurance’s service offerings. With over 30 years of experience in financial governance and leadership, Mr. Lakshman Silva has had a distinguished career with the DFCC Banking Group. He took on the role of CEO at DFCC Vardhana Bank in 2010 and later became the Deputy CEO of DFCC Bank PLC, eventually serving as its CEO from 2017 to 2021. Throughout his career, Mr. Silva has occupied several key governance positions, including Chairman of several DFCC subsidiaries such as DFCC Consulting (Pvt) Limited, Lanka Industrial Estates Limited, and Synapsys Limited. He has also held the chairmanship of the Sri Lanka Banks’ Association and Acuity Partners (Pvt) Ltd. Presently, he chairs LankaPay and Panasian Power PLC, serves as an Independent Director on the boards of Seylan Bank PLC, Melstercorp PLC, Distilleries Lanka PLC, and HNB Life PLC, and is a member of the Stakeholder Engagement Committee at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. A former President of the Association of Professional Bankers, Mr. Silva earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Special) degree from the University of Kelaniya and an MBA from the University of Sri Jayawardanapura.

Ms. Sandra De Zoysa is a globally acknowledged authority in customer experience (CX) and organizational transformation, boasting over 30 years in the ICT sector. As the Founder of CEx Consulting, she provides organizations with guidance on digital and CX strategies. During her 28-year career at Dialog Axiata PLC, she held several significant roles, including Group Chief Customer Officer, Managing Director of Dialog Business Services, and Chair of Axiata Berhad’s Digital CX Expert Working Group. Notably, she was the first executive in the Asia-Pacific to occupy a dedicated C-suite role focused on CX. A founding Charter member of TiE Colombo and the inaugural Chairperson of SLASSCOM, Ms. De Zoysa actively contributes to regional and international thought leadership as a member of the Customer Experience Professionals Association (CXPA) Asia Regional Leadership Council and chairs the Women Directors Forum at the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors. She is also a Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS) and holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Master’s in Digital Transformation Leadership, an Executive MBA, and a Master’s in Human Resource Management. Additionally, she is a Certified Scrum Master, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and the sole Certified CX Professional (CCXP) and Training Provider for CXPA in Sri Lanka.
