The tenth installment of the Ideal Abiyogaya Community Engagement initiative, organized by Ideal Motors—one of Sri Lanka’s premier automotive companies—recently took place in Habarana, marking a successful conclusion to this phase.
First introduced in 2015, the Ideal Abiyogaya program primarily caters to customers of the Mahindra Bolero and the surrounding community. The latest phase spanned several districts, including Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Matale, and Trincomalee.
As part of the initiative’s commitment to education, a Mahindra engine and industrial equipment were donated to the technical department of Habarana Maha Vidyalaya, supporting school-based industrial training programs. Additionally, the Ideal Singing Abiyogaya project identified talented students from schools in the Kekirawa and Hingurakgoda areas, thereby creating future opportunities for promising young performers.
A standout feature of the event was the Mahindra Bolero Off-Road Rally, exclusively for Bolero owners. The festivities culminated in a complimentary musical concert that attracted a large audience, further demonstrating the initiative’s popularity and success.
Nalin Welgama, the Founder and Chairman of Ideal Motors Group and the visionary behind the Ideal Abiyogaya program, reflected on the journey of his company and shared insights into the future initiatives planned under the ‘Ideal Sewana’ programs.
“Our partnership with Mahindra in 2009 marked a significant turning point for us. It allowed us to embark on a new relationship with customers that extended beyond mere transactions. We shifted the focus from Colombo to a broader outreach. With strong sales and after-sales service, Mahindra frequently invited me to India to explore new technologies and experiences, which we then brought back to Sri Lanka. A notable endeavor was the Mahindra Getaway competition, which allowed vehicle owners to showcase their driving skills and the quality of their vehicles,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Welgama mentioned that the Ideal Abiyogaya program plans to introduce several new features, including Ideal Sewana, aimed at assisting those facing financial difficulties. The initiative will continue to emphasize improvements in health and education. Ideal Motors is also excited to announce that the 11th phase of the Ideal Abiyogaya program will be launched soon, targeting another dynamic region of Sri Lanka.
