Investor Forums by SEC and CSE Scheduled for Monaragala and Batticaloa

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), in partnership with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC), is set to conduct investor forums in Monaragala and Batticaloa this week. This initiative aims to enhance investor engagement across the country, following a series of successful events held in Colombo earlier this month.

The forum in Monaragala will take place on July 16 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Silanrich Hotel, while the Batticaloa event is scheduled for July 18 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the FG Golden River Hotel. The Monaragala session will be conducted in Sinhala, and the Batticaloa session in Tamil. Both forums are complimentary and welcome anyone interested in exploring investment opportunities in the stock market or through Unit Trusts.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from Stock Broker Firms and Unit Trusts prior to the forums, enabling them to open investment accounts on-site. The first 200 participants who register for an account during the events will receive an investment coupon provided by the SEC and CSE.

The forums will include informative presentations and engaging panel discussions featuring representatives from the CSE, SEC, and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), along with leading stock brokers and unit trust firms. This collaborative effort aims to provide potential investors with a thorough understanding of the capital market landscape. The events are part of a broader strategy to promote the capital markets through CSE’s network of thirteen branches located throughout Sri Lanka.

This series of forums comes on the heels of impressive growth in the capital market, with the All-Share Price Index (ASPI) increasing from 4,846 points in May 2020 to 22,310.80 points by May 2026. This marks a remarkable growth rate of 360%, translating to a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 28.98%, with capital gains remaining exempt from taxes.

Individuals interested in attending either the Monaragala or Batticaloa forums can register via the CSE website or obtain further information by calling 057 2051279 or 070 2761883 for Monaragala and 075 603 8115 or 078 178 4076 for Batticaloa.

The Investor Forums are part of a nationwide campaign aimed at increasing financial literacy and expanding the investor base, showcasing the potential of the capital market and enhancing its accessibility through the extensive presence of the CSE across the country.
