Janashakthi Finance Achieves 51% Growth in Profit After Tax for Q1 2026-27

Janashakthi Finance PLC, a part of the Janashakthi Group (JXG), has commenced the fiscal year 2026/27 with impressive growth in its financial metrics. The company reported a significant year-on-year increase of 51% in Net Profit After Tax (NPAT), amounting to Rs. 90.4 million for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, compared to Rs. 59.9 million in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.

For the first quarter, the Profit Before Tax (PBT) reached Rs. 138.2 million, marking a 27.1% rise from Rs. 108.8 million year-on-year. Concurrently, the Net Operating Income surged by 24.7% to Rs. 837.8 million, up from Rs. 671.6 million recorded in the corresponding period last year.

This robust profitability enhancement was largely driven by the ongoing expansion of the company’s primary lending operations. The Loans and Receivables Portfolio saw significant growth, climbing to Rs. 34.5 billion from Rs. 23.8 billion a year prior, which represents an impressive year-on-year increase of 44.7%.

In parallel, the company sustained a stable deposit base, with total deposits reaching Rs. 18.3 billion, compared to Rs. 16.9 billion in the same period last year, reflecting an 8.1% year-on-year growth.

Rajendra Theagarajah, Chairman of Janashakthi Finance PLC, remarked on the company’s performance, stating, “Janashakthi Finance has made a remarkable start to this financial year, showcasing significant profitability growth and the ongoing expansion of our core business. The 51% rise in net profit illustrates the strides we are making to enhance our financial standing. Moving forward, we aim to build upon this foundation through disciplined growth, sound governance, and a focused effort on delivering sustainable value to our customers and shareholders.”

Sithambaram Sri Ganendran, the Chief Executive Officer of Janashakthi Finance PLC, commented, “Our results for the first quarter reflect substantial progress across our operations, with Net Operating Income climbing by 24.7% and Profit Before Tax increasing by 27%. The growth in our Loans and Receivables to Rs. 34.5 billion underscores the strength of our lending capabilities. We remain dedicated to leveraging this momentum for sustained growth by enhancing our customer relationships, broadening our outreach, and continuously improving our operational efficiency.”

The positive performance in the first quarter builds upon the growth trajectory Janashakthi Finance has established, solidifying its position in Sri Lanka’s non-bank financial institution (NBFI) landscape.

As part of JXG, Janashakthi Finance is committed to a growth strategy that focuses on expanding its lending and deposit operations, enhancing its customer offerings, and improving operational efficiencies. The successful first-quarter results lay a strong foundation as the company continues to pursue its broader growth objectives.
