JAT Holdings Sets the Stage for ACL’s Expansion in Bangladesh with Key Property Purchase in Singair

Asia Coatings (Private) Limited (ACL), the Bangladeshi arm of JAT Holdings PLC, has secured a significant property in Singair as part of the group’s ongoing dedication to Bangladesh, underscoring JAT’s confidence in this key international market.

Bangladesh has emerged as a vital market for JAT Holdings, contributing approximately 30% to the group’s overall revenue on average. JAT has operated in the country since 2001, progressively enhancing its market presence through manufacturing capabilities, vertical integration, market development, and strong customer relationships. With a robust lineup of wood coating brands, ACL has established itself as the leader in the industrial wood coatings sector in Bangladesh.

This acquisition reinforces the group’s existing manufacturing footprint in Bangladesh, which includes ACL’s alkyd resin facility. It also provides ACL with a more solid foundation for future warehousing and manufacturing growth as market demands evolve.

Forecasts for Bangladesh’s construction industry indicate a return to robust medium-term growth, with an expected average annual increase of around 6.3% from 2026 to 2029. This growth is anticipated to be fueled by ongoing investments in energy, transport, and industrial infrastructure. For ACL, this promising outlook directly impacts the demand for wood coatings in furnishing, manufacturing, and industrial applications, where continuity of supply, inventory management, and rapid response times are increasingly critical.

Situated in Singair, within the Manikganj District of the Dhaka Division and roughly 35 kilometers from Dhaka city, the new site brings ACL closer to several major industrial clients while ensuring direct access to significant retail and distribution centers. This strategic positioning is expected to enhance delivery efficiency, coordination, and inventory management across the supply chain.

Nishal Ferdinando, Chief Executive Officer of JAT Holdings PLC, remarked on the acquisition, stating, “Bangladesh is a key market for the Group and plays a significant role in our regional success. Given the importance of this market, our focus must extend beyond short-term sales. We need to establish the operational depth, resilience, and capacity necessary to support long-term growth. The Singair site enables us to confidently plan the next stage of our operations in Bangladesh.”

As ACL expands, aligning manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution strategies is expected to enhance operational efficiency and responsiveness to customer needs. This move is also anticipated to positively impact employees by reducing commute times, thereby fostering a more practical work environment as ACL strengthens its local workforce.

Shamara Wanniarachchi, Director and Country Head – Bangladesh for JAT Holdings PLC, added, “The significance of this site lies in its potential to integrate our manufacturing, warehousing, and customer service efforts. As demand increases, these areas must align more closely. Singair positions us nearer to key industrial customers and enhances our capacity to serve the market effectively, with improved inventory management and operational coordination.”

The Singair acquisition aligns with JAT Holdings’ broader strategy for regional growth, focusing on fortifying markets where the group has established leadership and sustainable demand. In Bangladesh, this move provides ACL with the opportunity to expand its manufacturing and distribution capabilities around a well-established business that is crucial to the group’s overall performance.
