Jyoti Structures Limited, based in India, has formed a joint venture with Hayleys Fentons Limited, the leading Solar EPC and MEP contractor in Sri Lanka, to undertake the construction of the Mannar–Mullikulam 220kV Double Circuit Transmission Line. This contract marks the first award from the newly launched National Transmission Network Service Provider (Private) Limited (NTNSP) as part of the Mullikulam Wind Power Transmission Project.
The initiative aims to develop essential transmission infrastructure necessary for channeling electricity produced by the Mullikulam Wind Power Projects into the national grid. Upon its completion, this transmission line will significantly enhance grid reliability, facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources, and contribute to Sri Lanka’s long-term energy sustainability objectives.
Amit Dutta, Chief Operating Officer of Jyoti Structures Limited, expressed pride in collaborating with Hayleys Fentons on this pivotal project. He noted, “With our vast experience in high-voltage transmission infrastructure, we are eager to create a robust transmission network that will aid Sri Lanka’s renewable energy goals and establish a high standard for transmission quality in the region.”
Hasith Prematillake, Managing Director of Hayleys Fentons Limited, remarked that this agreement symbolizes a strong belief in the future of Sri Lanka’s energy sector. Roshane Perera, Executive Director and CEO of Hayleys Solar, highlighted that this project signifies the beginning of a new chapter for Hayleys Fentons as they venture into the infrastructure domain. He emphasized that the initiative offers a valuable opportunity for the company to explore new growth avenues while enhancing the skills of their engineering team in power transmission and distribution. This will enable their engineers to develop specialized knowledge in this field and prepare the company for undertaking similar large-scale infrastructure projects in the future.
