FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The Cabinet of Sri Lanka has granted approval for the awarding of a contract to Maga Engineering (Pvt) Ltd for the expansion of the departures terminal at Bandaranaike International Airport. The total cost for the project is set at 7.26 million dollars and 3.77 billion rupees, both figures excluding VAT.
Minister Nalinda Jayatissa informed the media that the funding for this initiative will be sourced from the general treasury.
On February 9 of the previous year, the Cabinet had sanctioned the commencement of the procurement process aimed at constructing a new facility that will feature 36 check-in counters and 6 access gates for aircraft departing from the passenger terminal.
As part of the process, invitations for bids were issued following the International Competitive Procurement Procedure to identify an appropriate contractor. Jayatissa noted that three bids were submitted for consideration.
“Following the assessment of these bids and based on the recommendation from the High-Level Standing Procurement Committee, the Cabinet has approved the proposal to award the contract to the lowest responsive bidder, M/s Maga Engineering (Pvt) Ltd,” he added. (Colombo/Jul14/2026)
