FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Sri Lanka’s Cabinet has approved a proposal to award a contract worth 2,162.64 million rupees (excluding tax) to MAGA Engineering (Pvt) Ltd for the enhancement of passenger facilities at the Fort Railway Station, as stated by Minister Nalinda Jayatissa.
This project encompasses the construction of new bridges with accessibility features for individuals with special needs at both the Maradana and Bambalapitiya ends of the Colombo Fort Railway Station. Additionally, it includes the establishment of new ticket counters in conjunction with the passenger bridges, as well as the construction of a three-storey service building, he informed reporters.
Minister Jayatissa noted that four entities submitted bids for the project. Following a thorough evaluation, the contract was awarded to the lowest responsive bidder.
