Markets end Tuesday with little change as diversified financials drive trading volume.

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) in Sri Lanka experienced a stable trading session on Tuesday, as indicated by the latest data from the exchange. The benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) saw a slight decrease of 0.07 percent, dropping by 14.67 points to settle at 21,402.80. In contrast, the more active S&P SL20 index recorded a modest increase of 0.04 percent, equivalent to 2.12 points, ending the day at 5,987.61.

Among the stocks that positively impacted the ASPI were Hatton National Bank, which rose by 0.79 percent to 383.00 rupees, Richard Pieris and Company with a gain of 3.68 percent to 28.20 rupees, Browns Investments increasing by 1.96 percent to 5.20 rupees, and Access Engineering, which climbed by 0.80 percent to 75.20 rupees.

On the downside, Dialog Axiata experienced a decline of 0.89 percent, closing at 44.30 rupees. John Keells Holdings fell by 0.50 percent to 19.90 rupees, while SANASA Development Bank saw a significant drop of 6.23 percent, finishing at 49.70 rupees.

The total market turnover was recorded at 1.52 billion rupees, with diversified financials leading the way at 175 million rupees, closely followed by the banking sector at 170.2 million rupees.

Additionally, the Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka & Finance provided an update on its rights issue for 2026, clarifying that the number of additional shares available for subscription was 333,951, correcting an earlier figure of 233,951 shares. The bank’s shares ended the day up by 4.76 percent, reaching 11.00 rupees.
