FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Monday, the stock indices of Sri Lanka’s Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) experienced an upward trend, as indicated by the latest data. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) increased by 0.22 percent, gaining 47.38 points to reach 21,417.47. In addition, the S&P SL20 index, which reflects more liquid stocks, rose slightly by 0.04 percent, or 2.35 points, totaling 5,990.51.
Several stocks made positive contributions to the ASPI’s growth, including Royal Ceramics Lanka, which saw an increase of 3.72 percent to close at 44.60 rupees. Other notable performers were Dialog Axiata, up by 0.90 percent at 44.70 rupees, Prime Lands Residencies, rising by 5.85 percent to 43.40 rupees, and Melstacorp, which gained 0.54 percent to finish at 186.00 rupees.
Conversely, some stocks negatively impacted the index. Hatton National Bank fell by 1.04 percent, closing at 380.00 rupees, while Access Engineering decreased by 2.10 percent, finishing at 74.60 rupees. Additionally, John Keells Holdings dropped by 0.50 percent, ending at 20.00 rupees.
The market turnover reached 3.81 billion rupees, with retail shares leading the way and contributing 1.05 billion rupees to this total. Notably, Royal Ceramics Lanka reported a profit of 1.80 billion rupees for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, reflecting a significant increase of 56.1 percent compared to the same quarter in the previous year.
