Melsta Hospitals Earns JCI “Gold Seal of Approval”, Reinforcing Global-Standard Care While Keeping Healthcare Affordable for Sri Lankans

Melsta Hospitals has reached a significant milestone for Sri Lanka’s private healthcare sector, becoming the first hospital in the country to achieve Joint Commission International (JCI) Accreditation under the latest 8th edition standards. This recognition underscores the hospital’s adherence to internationally recognized benchmarks in patient safety, clinical quality, and continuous improvement, while maintaining affordability for Sri Lankans.

JCI, a globally esteemed accreditation body based in the United States, conducts a comprehensive survey process to evaluate hospitals. This process assesses real-world performance across patient care pathways, safety practices, organizational governance, and quality management systems. For patients and families, this accreditation provides assurance that care is delivered through structured, evidence-based processes aimed at reducing risk and enhancing outcomes.

The achievement of Melsta Hospitals is the culmination of a sustained, multi-year quality journey dedicated to developing systems that perform consistently, not only during assessments. Under the ownership of Melstacorp PLC, the hospital advanced from foundational quality frameworks to higher levels of operational discipline, strengthening clinical governance, enhancing safety checkpoints, and fostering a culture of accountability across teams and departments.
