The Royal–Thomian Golfers’ Guild proudly presents the Royal–Thomian Old Boys Golf Match, an event celebrating the enduring legacy of sporting excellence and spirited rivalry between Royal College and S. Thomas’ College. Scheduled for March 8, 2026, at the Royal Colombo Golf Club, this tournament promises a blend of tradition, competition, and camaraderie in true Royal–Thomian style.

The Fred De Saram Trophy, first introduced in 1970, has for over five decades brought together generations of Royalists and Thomians. This annual encounter not only strengthens the longstanding ties between the two institutions but also fosters a shared commitment to the game of golf. What began as a cordial alumni gathering has evolved into one of Sri Lanka’s most coveted golfing events, attracting both seasoned veterans and emerging players from the esteemed alumni bodies of both schools.

This year’s highly anticipated encounter features the Royal College team led by Captain Gamini Jayaweera and Vice-Captain Andy Anderson, while S. Thomas’ College will compete under Captain Rohan Fernando and Vice-Captain Arjun Dharmadasa. With strong leadership on both sides, the stage is set for a fiercely competitive contest that embodies the true spirit of Royal–Thomian sportsmanship.

The historic Royal Colombo Golf Club, renowned for its rich heritage and challenging fairways, serves as the perfect venue for this prestigious event—a true test of precision, strategy, and composure. Whether you are a devoted golfer, a proud alumnus, or a supporter of the celebrated Royal–Thomian tradition, this year’s match promises to be an unmissable event.

This year’s event is made possible through the dedication of the Event Committee, chaired by Naveen Samarasekera. The committee includes:

  • Permanent Compiler and Record Keeper: Siyath Ranatunga
  • Competition Format Coordinator & Awards Coordinator: Ranil Peiris and Samitha Perera
  • Event Administration Coordinators: Jehaan Ismail, Shiran De Soyza, Suresh Ganeshan, and Upul De Silva
