Sampath Bank Launches Its Inaugural Branch in Colombo Port City

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Sampath Bank has inaugurated its latest branch in Colombo Port City, signifying the inaugural banking activity within this new development.

Situated in Building 1 of the Business Centre at the Commercial Hub, this branch enhances the bank’s footprint in Sri Lanka’s inaugural multi-service Special Economic Zone.

The facility features self-service banking options, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) services, facilitating easy cash withdrawals, deposits, and routine banking operations tailored for those within the Port City environment.

According to the bank, “As an Authorized Persons Licensed Institution under the Colombo Port City Economic Commission, Sampath Bank provides a wide array of banking and financial services for both residents and non-residents engaged in activities within the area.”

The range of services available includes banking in both local and foreign currencies, inward investment accounts, trade finance, treasury services, international remittances, and digital banking solutions designed to meet the needs of businesses, investors, entrepreneurs, and individual customers.

The establishment of this new branch reinforces Sampath Bank’s commitment to providing the necessary financial infrastructure and expertise to foster investment, entrepreneurship, and the ongoing development of Port City Colombo as a premier business and financial hub in South Asia.

Previously, the bank had set up a Cash Recycler Machine (CRM) at The Mall at Port City Colombo, which served as the first access point for banking services, allowing for both withdrawals and deposits in the zone. (Colombo/Jun8/2026)
