Sampath Bank PLC has achieved a notable milestone in its development by inaugurating its Colombo Port City Branch, which underscores the bank’s dedication to enhancing Sri Lanka’s status as a globally integrated financial and investment hub. The ceremony for the branch opening was attended by members of the Sampath Bank Board of Directors, senior management, officials from the Colombo Port City Economic Commission (CPCEC), representatives from CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd, valued customers, and other esteemed guests.
This branch inauguration also signifies the very first banking transaction conducted within the Port City development, marking a significant advancement in Sri Lanka’s emergence as an international financial center.
Situated in Building 1 of the Business Centre at the Commercial Hub of Port City Colombo, this new branch enhances Sampath Bank’s footprint in Sri Lanka’s inaugural multi-service Special Economic Zone and positions the bank as one of the pioneering financial institutions to open a branch in this area.
This launch follows Sampath Bank’s initial foray into the region, which began with the installation of a Cash Recycler Machine (CRM) at The Mall at Port City Colombo in 2025, establishing the first banking access points in the zone for both withdrawals and deposits.
The newly inaugurated branch offers customers a range of self-service banking amenities, including CRM facilities, which facilitate easy cash withdrawals, deposits, and everyday banking operations within the Port City Colombo environment.
As an Authorized Persons Licensed Institution recognized by the Colombo Port City Economic Commission, Sampath Bank provides a wide array of banking and financial services for both residents and non-residents operating within its jurisdiction. These services encompass local and foreign currency accounts, inward investment accounts, trade finance, treasury services, international remittances, and digital banking solutions tailored for businesses, investors, entrepreneurs, and individual customers.
