Short Circuit Elevates Internal Leadership to Propel Future Growth Initiatives

Short Circuit has unveiled a revamped leadership framework, appointing five senior executives to oversee its various portfolio companies. These appointments encompass Surge Global and Calcey Technologies, the group’s service division; Payable, its payments sector; and SurgeOS, its product development arm. This strategic move signifies a transition from a founder-centric approach to a more expansive, leadership-driven model that prioritizes internal talent and established expertise.

The newly formed leadership team consists of Lahiru Dissanayake as CEO, Kasun Delgolla as CTO, and Mevan Perera as CMO for Surge Global and Calcey Technologies; Yohan Wijesiriwardane as CEO of Payable; and Steve Ludewyke as Chief Product Officer of SurgeOS. These appointments align with the group’s enduring commitment to recognizing, nurturing, and advancing internal leaders who have significantly contributed to the company’s growth.

Lahiru Dissanayake, who has nearly two decades of experience in enterprise technology, steps into the role of CEO for Surge Global and Calcey Technologies. His career trajectory within the group has seen him rise from Business Analyst to Chief Executive, with expertise in enterprise architecture, AI, and digital transformation across diverse sectors, including government services, telecommunications, and retail on a global scale.

Kasun Delgolla takes on the role of Chief Technology Officer, bringing over 14 years of expertise in software engineering, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. He has been instrumental in architecting significant enterprise programs, with a focus on cloud-native solutions and data ecosystems. As CTO, he is set to further define Surge’s technological direction and cultivate exceptional engineering talent internally.

Mevan Perera, with more than 14 years of experience in digital marketing, assumes the role of Chief Marketing Officer for the services segment. His seven years within the group have been dedicated to enhancing its digital strategy capabilities. He has successfully developed and implemented a comprehensive Digital Strategy Blueprint, covering various aspects such as SEO, content, and analytics for clients across multiple regions.

Yohan Wijesiriwardane, who co-founded Payable 12 years ago, is dedicated to democratizing access to premium payment infrastructure for merchants. Under his guidance, Payable has evolved into a platform that processes LKR 6 billion monthly across 45,000 merchants, introducing innovations like South Asia’s first Tap2Phone solution and instant merchant settlements. He is also the first non-bank CEO in Sri Lanka to secure direct investment from Visa and Mastercard, leading the payments division with a robust record of scaling operations.

Steve Ludewyke, serving as Chief Product Officer of SurgeOS, brings over six years of experience in digital transformation, with a focus on sectors such as retail and healthcare. His work has included operational transformations in Fiji and establishing partnerships in Papua New Guinea, showcasing his ability to deliver practical outcomes in challenging environments.

In response to the new appointments, Short Circuit’s Group Leadership commented, “Our organization has always been centered around exceptional individuals, not just innovative concepts. These appointments underscore our belief that future growth must be spearheaded by those who possess a deep understanding of our business, clients, and market dynamics. Lahiru, Kasun, Mevan, Yohan, and Steve each play vital roles in our organization, and this new structure empowers them to advance their respective areas further.”
