A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was officially executed by Mr. Thusith Gunawarnasuriya, the Chief Executive Officer of Siam City Cement (Lanka) Ltd, and Mr. Chandima C. Muhandiramge, the Chief Secretary of the Southern Province. The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of Hon. Governor Prof. Susiripala Manawadu and a host of notable government officials.
The ceremony took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Galle, attracting engineers and technical personnel from various governmental organizations, including local governmental authorities, the Pradeshiya Sabha Development Authority (PRDA), the Building Department, and the Irrigation Department. This event highlighted the significance of fostering robust partnerships between the public and private sectors to enhance industry standards and equip technical professionals with up-to-date expertise in the Southern Province.
This initiative is set to unfold over the next few months as a series of three continuous training programs aimed at enhancing the skills of engineers and technical officers throughout the province. The training sessions will focus on crucial topics such as SLS 573, quality assurance, construction management, waterproofing techniques, durable concrete practices, and optimizing concrete mix designs.
Together, these efforts are aimed at cultivating a more informed and resilient construction sector for the future.
