Sinopec has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing Sri Lanka’s energy infrastructure and community standards by completing upgrades to three fuel stations and introducing a new station in Anuradhapura. This development marks a significant milestone in the company’s nationwide expansion in support of the national Clean Sri Lanka initiative.
The stations, located in Eppawala, Srawasthipura, New Town, and the northern edge of the city, represent Sinopec’s strategic move into the North Central Province. Notably, the newly renovated New City Lanka station features an advanced water filtration system, part of a community hydration initiative that debuted at the Madhu Church festival last year. This effort aligns with Sinopec’s Clear Spring CSR initiative, which focuses on providing access to clean water for communities in need.
Through extensive studies on Sri Lanka’s community development needs, Sinopec has identified the urgent requirement for accessible drinking water, particularly in the North Central Province where a scarcity of clean water poses significant health risks.
The event was attended by Mr. Samarathunga Herath, the Clean Sri Lanka Anuradhapura District Coordinator, highlighting the national significance of this initiative and the government’s endorsement of Sinopec’s long-term partnership in enhancing infrastructure, environmental standards, and community welfare in Sri Lanka.
All four stations comply with recommendations from the Clean Sri Lanka Committee, featuring upgraded multifunctional washrooms, redesigned service points, and safety improvements. The newly built Sinoceylon Filling Station exemplifies the company’s commitment to international standards in fuel retail and customer service, with features such as Sinopec’s proprietary six-step fueling method, modern facilities, and advanced energy sector training programs for frontline staff.
“These stations are more than just fuel stops. They are expressions of trust, respect, and partnership with the people of Anuradhapura and Sri Lanka at large,” stated Wang Haini, General Manager of Sinopec. “It is an honor to deepen our partnerships with our dealers and to invest in the historic kingdom city of Anuradhapura.”
Sinopec’s new stations in Anuradhapura signify a deliberate investment in decentralizing quality service and infrastructure to the provinces. These sites cater to the needs of travelers, families, and workers across the region.
The unveiling also emphasized Sinopec’s dedication to training and capacity-building within the energy sector. Over the past two years, the company has conducted training programs in emergency fire response, first aid, and safety protocol for over 300 station operators across all nine provinces. This Energy Talent Growth Programme continues to upskill station managers to meet the evolving professional demands of the industry.
With the support of its dealers, Sinopec continues to strengthen its role as a community-first energy provider in Sri Lanka, aligning every infrastructure investment with national development priorities and global sustainability benchmarks. In the coming months, the company plans to expand its Clear Spring initiative across more regions and introduce innovative service features that redefine fueling convenience for Sri Lankans nationwide.
