SLFPA Launches 23rd Edition of Profood Propack & Agbiz Knowledge Hub 2026

The highly anticipated Profood Propack & Agbiz Knowledge Hub 2026, a key event on Sri Lanka’s food industry calendar, is set to take place from August 21 to 23, 2026, at the BMICH in Colombo. Organized by the Sri Lanka Food Processors Association (SLFPA) in collaboration with Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services (LECS), the event was officially announced at the 22nd edition’s award ceremony on March 10 at Cinnamon Grand Colombo. The gathering saw industry leaders and stakeholders celebrating sector excellence while SLFPA unveiled plans for an expanded and impactful edition in the upcoming year.

Profood Propack 2026, endorsed by the Ministry of Industries, the National Agribusiness Council, and the Institute of Food Science and Technology Sri Lanka (IFSTSL), has been the flagship platform for SLFPA for over 25 years. It plays a crucial role in advancing Sri Lanka’s food sector and supporting economic growth by bringing together leaders from agriculture, food processing, packaging, and allied industries to foster innovation, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships.

SLFPA President, Mr. Thusith Wijesinghe, highlighted the event’s importance, stating, “Profood Propack & Agbiz Knowledge Hub 2026 continues to set the benchmark for Sri Lanka’s food industry. By bringing together key local and international stakeholders, the exhibition fosters innovation, collaboration, and growth across the sector.”

The exhibition facilitates connections among distributors, manufacturers, suppliers, and industry professionals, showcasing advancements in food and beverage production, processing, packaging machinery, and hospitality. It emphasizes operational efficiency, smart manufacturing, and sustainable practices to meet the modern food industry’s evolving needs.

Co-Chairmen of the Profood Propack 2026 Organising Committee, Mr. Nadishan Guruge and Mr. Sameera Jayathilake, stated, “This year, our emphasis is on empowering SMEs and entrepreneurs while facilitating strategic partnerships. With enhanced facilities and international participation, the exhibition promises valuable insights and opportunities for all. Under the Knowledge Hub, we will plan industry-related seminars for our members.”

The event promises robust B2B networking, enabling partnerships, trade agreements, and market expansion. It provides a platform for startups, SMEs, and established brands to grow, with international exhibitors bringing global expertise and innovation, thereby strengthening Sri Lanka’s position as a regional food and packaging hub.

Knowledge sharing is central this year, with an expanded Knowledge Hub, live demonstrations, and expert-led sessions supporting skill development and industry insight. A dedicated Consumer Assistance Desk will guide emerging entrepreneurs in exploring opportunities and navigating the business landscape effectively.

Profood Propack also holds significant economic and national relevance, contributing to the growth of Sri Lanka’s food, beverage, packaging, and agriculture industries while supporting export development, tourism, and employment generation. It aligns closely with national objectives for industrial development and value addition.
