Sri Lanka has established a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Belarus to enhance cooperation in the healthcare sector, according to Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.
“I am delighted to finalize the MoU on healthcare, which represents a significant advancement in our collaborative efforts in medical education, healthcare services, and research,” Herath stated.
During his ongoing visit to Belarus, Herath engaged with Aliaksandr Khajayeu, the Belarusian Minister of Health, to explore opportunities for further collaboration in health-related initiatives.
Additionally, he toured the Belarusian State Medical University in Minsk and held discussions with the rectors of various medical institutions, including those in Vitebsk, Grodno, and Gomel, which collectively host over 3,000 Sri Lankan medical students. (Colombo/May 15/2026)
