Sri Lanka and Pakistan Aim to Strengthen Trade Relations through Enhanced Private Sector Collaboration

Sri Lanka and Pakistan have engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral trade through increased collaboration between their private sectors, as reported by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB).

The talks focused on improving trade facilitation, optimizing the Free Trade Agreement framework, and fostering stronger business-to-business connections. These discussions took place during a meeting with a delegation from the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) at the EDB office in Colombo.

Both parties conveyed their optimism regarding the potential to further develop trade relations and establish long-term economic cooperation between the two nations, according to the EDB.

The meeting highlighted the enduring economic relationship that has existed between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Key participants included EDB Chairman Mangala Wijesinghe, KCCI Senior Vice President Muhammad Raza, Tilan M. Wijesooriya, the acting Secretary General of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL), and an Associate Director of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
