The Financial Intelligence Unit of Sri Lanka’s Central Bank is currently conducting a survey targeting virtual asset service providers (VASPs). This initiative is part of a broader public consultation effort intended to gather detailed information about individuals and entities involved in offering specific services as a business, according to the Central Bank’s announcement.
The survey seeks to obtain insights into operations that include:
- The exchange between virtual assets, such as cryptocurrencies, and fiat currencies
- The exchange between different forms of virtual assets
- Provision of virtual asset transfer services
- Safekeeping and/or administration of virtual assets or tools that enable control over virtual assets
- Offering financial services related to an issuer’s offer, particularly activities connected to Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs)
