FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers has approved a plan to repair a 2.2-kilometer stretch of the expressway access road in Kerawalapitiya, as announced by Minister Nalinda Jayatissa.
“The reconstruction of the section of road from the expressway to Elakanda Road, which passes through an industrial zone, will be carried out in phases to ensure it is suitable for traffic,” Jayatissa informed reporters.
“The urgent need for development of this road section, which is currently in a significant state of disrepair, has been identified,” he added.
A feasibility study is planned to explore widening the road as a long-term solution, with funding to be allocated under a medium-term budget framework, he explained.
Previous construction efforts in 2021 were halted due to the economic crisis.
