Sri Lanka Conducts Successful Auction, Offloading Additional Rs3.51bn in Treasury Bills

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – Sri Lanka successfully auctioned treasury bills worth 3,510 million rupees at average yields of 10.09 percent for the three-month bills and 10.27 percent for the six-month bills, according to the public debt management office. This brings the cumulative amount of treasury bills sold during the week to 75,254 million rupees.

The total amount offered was 140 billion rupees, with the market subscription matching the 3,510 million rupees sold. The debt office issued three-month bills at an interest rate of 10.09 percent and six-month bills at 10.27 percent.

On Wednesday, the office successfully raised 71.74 billion rupees through the sale of three, six, and twelve-month treasury bills, having initially offered 140 billion rupees. All three types of bills were subsequently available for additional purchases.
