Sri Lanka Customs has achieved a historic revenue milestone of Rs. 2,497 billion so far in 2025, surpassing its revised annual target, according to Customs Media Spokesperson and Director of Customs, Chandana Punchihewa.
The Ministry of Finance had initially set a revenue target of Rs. 2,115 billion for 2025. This target was exceeded by November, leading to a revision of the target to Rs. 2,231 billion, Punchihewa noted.
However, the revised target has also been surpassed, he added.
In a media briefing, Punchihewa attributed the significant revenue increase to several internal measures implemented by Sri Lanka Customs, along with the resumption of vehicle imports.
He explained that last year’s revenue target was Rs. 1,531 billion, and the 2025 target was significantly increased following the decision to permit vehicle imports.
“Vehicle imports contributed to exceeding the revenue target, along with the various measures adopted by Customs,” he added.
