Sri Lanka Experiences a 6.3% Decline in Official Reserves for June 2026

In June 2026, Sri Lanka experienced a reduction of 6.3% in its official reserve assets, which decreased from USD 6,881 million in May to USD 6,450 million, as reported by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

The decline of $431 million was primarily attributed to a 6.1% fall in foreign exchange reserves, which now stand at USD 6,254 million.

Additionally, the country’s gold reserves saw a significant decrease, dropping by 11.7% to reach USD 191 million.
