Sri Lanka Grants Fuel and Crude Oil Contracts to Aditya Birla and Vitol Asia

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The Cabinet of Ministers of Sri Lanka has granted approval for the establishment of long-term contracts for petrol, Murban crude oil, and diesel, with agreements awarded to Singapore-based firms Vitol Asia and Aditya Birla Global Trading, according to Minister Nalinda Jayatissa.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation had solicited bids from registered suppliers for the procurement of Petrol 92 Unleaded, Murban crude oil, and Diesel (0.05% M.S.) through long-term contracts.

From the four proposals submitted for the purchase of 1.2 million barrels of Petrol 92 Unleaded, with a tolerance of ±5%, for a duration spanning six months from September 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027, Aditya Birla Global Trading (Singapore) Pte Ltd was selected.

Similarly, Aditya Birla Global Trading (Singapore) Pte Ltd was also chosen from four bids for the acquisition of 2.8 million barrels of Murban crude oil, with a tolerance of ±5%, over a four-month period from November 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027.

In the case of diesel procurement, Vitol Asia Pte Ltd of Singapore was awarded the contract after being selected from six bids for the supply of 1.12 million barrels of Diesel (0.05% M.S.), with a ±5% tolerance, for a four-month period beginning September 1, 2026, and ending February 28, 2027.
