Sri Lanka introduces LankaKonect app to provide global assistance for migrant workers.

Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Employment has introduced LankaKonect, a digital application designed to assist migrant workers globally. This complaint management application (CMA) serves as a centralized and intuitive platform for workers to submit grievances and request support, track the status of their cases, and access vital information and services.

Developed in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), the app has also received backing from Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT). It aims to bridge the existing gaps in the protection of migrant workers by digitally streamlining the complaint management systems of the SLBFE, the ministry’s Consular Affairs Division, and Sri Lankan diplomatic missions abroad.

The ministry stated, “This integrated platform improves coordination among institutions, streamlines centralized case management and monitoring, and allows for quicker, more efficient responses to complaints and welfare issues presented by Sri Lankan migrant workers overseas.”

Besides managing complaints, the application offers crucial information and services to Sri Lankans abroad for employment, education, and housing, helping them stay connected with government bodies throughout their migration process.

LankaKonect is available for free on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. (Colombo/Jun17/2026)
