Sri Lanka rupee depreciates further, bond yields edge down on mid-tenors

The Sri Lankan rupee concluded trading at 310.05/15 against the US dollar in the spot market on Wednesday, marking a slight depreciation from the previous day’s rate of 310.00/10, according to market dealers.

In the bond market, yields showed a downward trend for bonds maturing in 2028 and 2029. Specifically, the yield on a bond maturing on December 15, 2026, remained steady at 8.50/60 percent.

The bond maturing on December 15, 2028, closed at 9.20/27 percent, a minor decrease from the previous 9.20/30 percent. Similarly, the bond maturing on December 15, 2029, ended at 9.65/73 percent, down from 9.70/73 percent.

Additionally, the bond maturing on July 1, 2030, saw its yield dip to 9.75/80 percent from 9.77/80 percent. The bond maturing on March 15, 2031, closed at 9.95/10.00 percent, while the bond maturing on November 1, 2033, ended at 10.30/35 percent.
