Sri Lanka rupee weaker, bond yields down

Sri Lanka’s rupee continued to weaken, closing at 309.65/72 against the US dollar in the spot market on Wednesday, compared to 309.50/60 the previous day, according to dealers. Meanwhile, government bond yields ended the day lower.

The yield on the government bond maturing on December 15, 2026, closed at 8.25/38 percent, down from 8.35/45 percent. The bond maturing on September 15, 2027, ended at 8.78/88 percent, slightly lower than the previous 8.80/90 percent.

The yield on the bond maturing on December 15, 2029, was 9.45/48 percent. The bond maturing on October 1, 2032, closed at 10.20/25 percent, down from 10.22/25 percent previously. The bond maturing on November 1, 2033, finished at 10.40/44 percent, compared to 10.37/42 percent the previous day.
