Sri Lanka’s 2025 Vehicle Imports Surpass USD 2 Billion Mark

According to the External Sector performance data for December 2025 released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), vehicle imports in Sri Lanka surpassed USD 2 billion in 2025. The data revealed that imports, which include both personal and commercial vehicles, reached USD 301 million in December alone, culminating in a total vehicle import bill of USD 2.047 billion for the year.

The report further highlighted that personal vehicle imports accounted for a substantial portion, costing USD 1.6 billion in 2025.
