Sri Lanka’s 2026 Economic and Investment Summit: Strategizing for a Robust Future Economy

As Sri Lanka progresses past its phase of economic stabilization, there is a growing focus on how the nation can sustain its growth trajectory while effectively addressing future challenges. This topic will be central to the discussions at the Sri Lanka Economic & Investment Summit 2026 (SLEIS 2026), scheduled for October 12-13 and hosted by The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The summit will bring together policymakers, business leaders, and global experts to explore strategies for enhancing the country’s resilience while fostering continued growth and investment.

Recent upheavals in the economy and international markets have underscored the necessity of reinforcing the economic framework, which encompasses macroeconomic stability, robust institutions, and the adaptability of businesses to evolving circumstances. The session titled “Beyond Crisis Management: Building a Shock-Resilient Sri Lankan Economy” will delve into the vulnerabilities that have been revealed by recent economic disturbances and external pressures, as well as what measures should be established to mitigate the risk of future setbacks to economic advancement.

Ms. Lilia Aleksanyan, the Senior Country Economist for Sri Lanka at the Asian Development Bank, will provide the keynote address during the session. She will be joined by a panel that includes Dr. Chandranath Amarasekara, Senior Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka; Ms. Sabrina Esufally, Executive Director of Hemas Holdings PLC; and Dr. Roshan Perera, a Consultant at the Centre for Poverty Analysis and former Director at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The panel discussion will be facilitated by Mr. Dhananath Fernando, the Chief Executive Officer of the Advocata Institute.

The discussion will focus on strategies for enhancing macroeconomic stability, protecting livelihoods, and boosting the resilience of businesses and essential economic institutions in Sri Lanka. It will also highlight the significance of international partnerships, investment, innovation, and leadership in business to create an economy capable of adapting to changing circumstances while remaining aligned with long-term development objectives.

Rather than concentrating solely on reactive measures to future crises, the conversation will emphasize the importance of proactive preparations. This includes establishing stronger institutions, implementing sound economic policies, fostering diversification, nurturing resilient businesses, and developing the agility to respond effectively to both external and domestic pressures.

The session will take place on the second day of SLEIS 2026, which is themed “Positioning Sri Lanka in a Changing Global Economy: Resilience, Reform, and the Future of Economic Policy.”
