The Sri Lankan government has announced the implementation of a new digital fuel card system for government vehicles, introduced by the state-run Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC). This initiative aims to enhance transparency, reduce corruption, and streamline the fuel provisioning process.

According to the Ministry of Digital Economy, the digital fuel card will be issued to all government vehicles, allowing them to refuel at any filling station throughout the island. The primary goal of this system is to reduce corruption and irregularities in fuel distribution for government vehicles, minimize time-consuming paperwork, and provide accurate monitoring of fuel consumption within government institutions.

This digitization effort is expected to enable the CPC to manage state resources more efficiently and contribute to the national economy by minimizing fuel wastage.
