FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The Sri Lankan rupee was traded at 319.50/320.50 against the US dollar in the spot next market, a slight decrease from the previous day’s rate of 319.00/320.00, according to market dealers. Meanwhile, bond yields remained stable.
An auction for Treasury bills amounting to 140 billion rupees was currently underway.
The yield on a bond set to mature on December 15, 2028, was recorded at 9.80/85 percent, a marginal decrease from the previous 9.80/90 percent. Similarly, a bond maturing on December 15, 2029, showed a yield of 9.95/10.00 percent, down from 10.00/05 percent.
A bond expiring on July 1, 2030, held steady at 10.15/20 percent. For a bond due on December 15, 2032, the yield was quoted at 10.80/85 percent. In contrast, a bond maturing on November 1, 2033, saw a slight increase to 11.00/05 percent from the previous 10.95/11.05 percent. Lastly, a bond maturing on June 1, 2034, was reported at 11.15/20 percent, up from 11.15/17 percent.
