Sri Lanka’s currency trades at 332/334 against the US dollar as bond yields decline.

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Monday, the Sri Lankan rupee was valued at 332.00/334.00 against the US dollar in the spot market, an improvement from the previous Friday’s rate of 335.50/336.00. This strengthening of the currency coincided with a significant drop in bond yields, influenced by the announcement of a deal between the US and Iran, according to market dealers.

In terms of telegraphic transfer rates, the Sri Lankan rupee was priced at 327.5000 for buying and 336.50 for selling against the US dollar. For the euro, the rates were 377.6064 for selling and 391.5234 for buying, while the pound was quoted at 439.3154 for buying and 453.3610 for selling.

Regarding bonds, the yield for a bond maturing on May 15, 2030, was reported at 11.40/45 percent. The yield for a bond maturing on December 15, 2032, decreased to 11.50/70 percent from a previous 12.25/40 percent. Additionally, a bond maturing on January 15, 2033, was quoted at 11.65/75 percent, while a bond maturing on March 15, 2035, was quoted at 12.00/15 percent, a drop from its earlier rate of 12.65/95 percent.
