FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – During midday trading on Tuesday, the Colombo Stock Exchange in Sri Lanka experienced a decline, as indicated by CSE data. The benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) fell by 0.17 percent.
The ASPI decreased by 37.22 points, settling at 22,043.43, while the more actively traded S&P SL20 index dropped by 0.15 percent, or 9.20 points, to reach 6,157.85.
Several stocks positively impacted the ASPI, including Hatton National Bank, which rose by 0.69 percent to 399.50 rupees, Royal Ceramics Lanka, which increased by 1.35 percent to 45.00 rupees, Aitken Spence, up 0.83 percent at 151.00 rupees, Sanasa Development Bank, which saw a rise of 3.00 percent to 55.00 rupees, and Nawaloka Hospitals, increasing by 2.78 percent to 14.80 rupees.
Conversely, notable decliners included Ambeon Holdings, which fell by 10.71 percent to 35.00 rupees, Melstacorp, down 1.18 percent at 189.00 rupees, John Keells Holdings, which dropped by 0.50 percent to 20.00 rupees, Carson Cumberbatch, decreasing by 2.60 percent to 750.00 rupees, and LOLC Holdings, down 0.24 percent at 510.00 rupees.
The market turnover amounted to 216.8 million rupees, with capital goods leading the sector in turnover, contributing 46.2 million rupees.
Analysts observed a minor share transaction involving Seylan Developments, following the announcement of dealings by its directors. Eleven shares owned by the estate of the late Mr. M.H.M. Nazeer were transferred to Dr. Azmina Farouk, the spouse of director Mr. M.N.I. Farouk, on June 25, 2026.
