Sri Lanka’s Midday Market Sees Gains Driven by ACL Cables and Capital Goods Boosting Turnover

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Tuesday, the Colombo Stock Exchange in Sri Lanka experienced a positive trend, as indicated by CSE data. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) increased by 0.28 percent, equating to a rise of 64.29 points, reaching a total of 22,676.60.

Additionally, the S&P SL20 index saw an uptick of 0.30 percent, which is an increase of 18.58 points, bringing it to 6,233.14.

Among the notable gainers contributing positively to the ASPI were ACL Cables, which rose by 2.64 percent to 101 rupees, Commercial Bank, up 0.60 percent to 209.75 rupees, and John Keells Holdings, which increased by 0.49 percent to 20.40 rupees.

Conversely, the market faced some declines with Richard Pieris and Company falling by 1.66 percent to 35.50 rupees, DFCC Bank decreasing by 0.69 percent to 144 rupees, and Sampath Bank dropping by 0.17 percent to 148.75 rupees.

The total market turnover reached 778.8 million rupees, with the capital goods sector leading the way at 218.4 million rupees; ACL Cables alone accounted for 91.8 million rupees of this total.

In a separate announcement, the National Development Bank reported that its Independent Non-Executive Director, Shanil Fernando, has resigned from the Board, effective April 27.
