FINANCIAL CHRONICLE — Royal Ceramics Lanka PLC in Sri Lanka announced a profit of 1.8 billion rupees for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, marking a considerable increase of 56.1 percent compared to the same quarter in the previous year, according to documents submitted to the Colombo Stock Exchange.
The company reported basic earnings of 1.62 rupees per share for the quarter, an improvement from 1.04 rupees per share recorded during the corresponding period last year.
Net revenue for the group surged by 15 percent to reach 16.18 billion rupees, with significant contributions from the tiles and related products division, which generated 9.66 billion rupees in external revenue. Additionally, the Aluminium division added 2.84 billion rupees to the total revenue.
Revenue from the sanitaryware segment amounted to 1.24 billion rupees, while the packaging segment contributed 2.43 billion rupees. The profit after tax from ongoing operations in the tiles segment was 702.5 million rupees, while the packaging segment added 150.9 million rupees.
The results benefited from a share of profits from an associated company, which totaled 1.02 billion rupees, reflecting a 33 percent increase from the previous year. However, finance expenses for the quarter rose by 10 percent, reaching 702.9 million rupees, up from 638.6 million rupees in 2025.
As of June 30, 2026, the group’s total interest-bearing loans and borrowings escalated to 20.80 billion rupees, compared to 19.01 billion rupees at the end of the last financial year. This increase in short-term debt was attributed to net proceeds from interest-bearing loans and borrowings amounting to 12.42 billion rupees during the quarter.
Performance was also affected by discontinued operations, including the winding down of Valley View Ceramics LLC and the divestment of Lanka Swisstek (Pvt) Ltd. The group recorded a loss after tax from these discontinued operations of 6.9 million rupees for the quarter.
Following the announcement of these results, shares of Royal Ceramics saw a rise of 3.7 percent, closing at Rs. 44.60. (Colombo/Aug10/2026)
