FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Monday, the Sri Lankan rupee was valued at 335.70/336.00 against the US dollar in the spot market, showing no change from Friday’s rate of 335.70/90. According to market participants, bond yields remained relatively stable.
For the bond maturing on December 15, 2029, the yield was quoted at 11.00/15 percent, a decrease from the previous rate of 11.05/15 percent. In contrast, the bond set to mature on October 15, 2030, saw an increase, with yields quoted at 11.47/53 percent, up from 11.45/50 percent. The bond maturing on June 15, 2034, remained unchanged at a yield of 11.80/90 percent.
The rates for telegraphic transfers were as follows: the US dollar was priced at 331.3000 for buying and 340.3000 for selling; the euro at 374.9980 for buying and 388.9150 for selling; and the British pound at 442.2248 for buying and 456.2704 for selling.
On the Colombo Stock Exchange, trading began on a negative note, with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) declining by 0.19%, or 41.43 points, to reach 21,724.13. Similarly, the S&P SL20 index fell by 0.24%, equivalent to a drop of 14.37 points, bringing it down to 6,063.09.
