FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Tuesday, Sri Lanka’s currency, the rupee, ended the trading session at 337.00/75 against the US dollar in the spot market, a decline from the previous day’s rate of 337.00/30, according to market dealers. Additionally, bond yields experienced an upward trend.
In the telegraphic transfer market, the exchange rates for the Sri Lankan rupee were reported as follows: 332.50 for buying and 341.50 for selling against the US dollar; for the euro, the rates were 381.2184 for selling and 395.1354 for buying; and for the British pound, the buying rate was 442.9204 while the selling rate stood at 456.9660.
The yield on a bond set to mature on August 1, 2030, was recorded at 12.15/30 percent, an increase from 12.15/20 percent. Similarly, a bond maturing on March 15, 2035, closed at 13.00/20 percent, rising from the previous rate of 12.80/13.10 percent.
Looking ahead, an auction for treasury bills amounting to 140 million rupees is slated for Wednesday. (Colombo/Jun9/2026)
