Sri Lanka’s service sector exports experienced a growth of 3.75 percent in June 2026, amounting to 344.52 million dollars, as reported by the country’s Export Development Board. This increase was compared to the same month in the previous year.
The information and communication technology (ICT) and business process management (BPM) sectors saw a notable increase in export earnings, rising by 11.31 percent to reach 150.49 million dollars in June 2026, compared to June 2025.
The Export Development Board highlighted that key service sectors such as ICT/BPM, construction, financial services, as well as transport and logistics, are crucial for diversifying Sri Lanka’s export portfolio. These sectors contribute significantly to value addition, attract foreign currency, and generate high-skilled job opportunities.
However, the construction sector reported a decline in export earnings, dropping by 26.14 percent to 5.93 million dollars year-on-year. Meanwhile, earnings from the transport and logistics sector experienced a slight decrease of 0.79 percent, totaling 184.89 million dollars. On a positive note, financial services saw substantial growth, increasing by 29.56 percent to 3.21 million dollars.
Overall, Sri Lanka’s total exports of goods and services for June 2026 amounted to 1,658.62 billion US dollars, marking a significant increase of 12.53 percent.
