Sri Lanka’s Service Exports Surge 24.59% in January 2026, Driven by ICT/BPM Sector

Sri Lanka’s services exports in January 2026 have shown a remarkable increase, rising by 24.59% to reach 367.55 million dollars, according to the island’s Export Development Board.

The export earnings from the ICT/BPM sector experienced significant growth, surging by 60.21% to 177.83 million dollars when compared to January 2025. Meanwhile, the construction sector saw a moderate increase of 5.48%, with earnings amounting to 11.6 million dollars year-on-year.

Financial services also reported a positive trend, with a growth of 5.71% to 5.29 million dollars. In the transport and logistics sector, earnings rose by 2.88%, reaching 172.83 million dollars.

Overall, the total exports of goods and services for January 2026 amounted to 1,532.57 billion US dollars, marking a substantial increase of 13.71%.
