Sri Lanka’s Stock Market Closes the Week Steady, Driven by Capital Goods Trading

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The Colombo Stock Exchange in Sri Lanka experienced a stagnant trading session on Friday, according to data from the exchange, with the benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) declining slightly by 0.07 percent.

The ASPI fell by 16.18 points, settling at 21,744.13, while the more actively traded S&P SL20 index remained unchanged at 6,031.82.

Several firms positively influenced the ASPI, including Ceylon Beverage Holdings, which rose by 7.44 percent to reach 2,955.50 rupees, Ceylon Cold Stores, which increased by 2.81 percent to 137.00 rupees, Cargills (Ceylon), which saw a 1.53 percent gain to 678.50 rupees, and Melstacorp, which edged up by 0.41 percent to 183.00 rupees.

Conversely, the stocks that negatively impacted the index were Hayleys, down 0.86 percent to 230.00 rupees, Windforce, which saw a decline of 3.35 percent to 43.30 rupees, and Digital Mobility Solutions Lanka, which dropped 1.52 percent to 162.50 rupees.

The total market turnover for the day was recorded at 2.98 billion rupees, with the capital goods sector leading the turnover at 1.26 billion rupees.

In other news, HNB Finance released a notification following shareholder approval on June 1, 2026. This notice informs both ordinary voting and non-voting shareholders registered by the June 3, 2026 record date about the application process for its rights issue.

The shares of HNB Finance closed down by 1.11 percent, finishing at 8.90 rupees.
