FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The Colombo Stock Exchange in Sri Lanka reported a decline in trading on Tuesday, as indicated by the latest data from the CSE, with the benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) decreasing by 0.39 percent.
The ASPI fell by 85.61 points to close at 21,995.04. Similarly, the S&P SL20, which reflects more liquid stocks, experienced a decline of 0.27 percent, equivalent to 16.72 points, finishing at 6,150.33.
Among the notable stocks that negatively impacted the index were Dialog Axiata, which dropped by 1.98 percent to 44.60 rupees, Melstacorp, down 1.18 percent to 189.00 rupees, John Keells Holdings, which fell 0.50 percent to 20.00 rupees, and Carson Cumberbatch, decreasing by 2.66 percent to 749.50 rupees.
On the other hand, stocks that contributed positively to the ASPI included Digital Mobility Solutions Lanka, which rose by 0.88 percent to 171.25 rupees, Royal Ceramics Lanka, up 1.13 percent to 44.90 rupees, and Haycarb, increasing by 1.56 percent to 163.00 rupees.
The total market turnover reached 1.13 billion rupees, with the capital goods sector leading the way, accounting for 483.4 million rupees of the total turnover.
Additionally, the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL) has lifted the suspension on the registration of SANASA Life Insurance, effective July 6, contingent upon the company meeting specific conditions.
