FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Tuesday, the Colombo Stock Exchange in Sri Lanka experienced a decline, with the primary indicator, the All Share Price Index (ASPI), dropping by 0.19 percent. The ASPI fell by 39.70 points, settling at 21,082.08, whereas the more active S&P SL20 index saw a slight increase of 0.07 percent, rising by 4.23 points to reach 5,944.52.
Among the stocks positively impacting the ASPI were Nations Trust Bank, which increased by 1.41 percent to 306.50 rupees, Richard Pieris and Company, up 1.90 percent at 26.80 rupees, Carson Cumberbatch, which rose by 1.44 percent to 722.50 rupees, and Sierra Cables, gaining 4.48 percent to close at 28.00 rupees.
Conversely, C. T. Holdings was the largest negative contributor, experiencing a decline of 6.56 percent to 470.00 rupees. Other notable downward movements included Sampath Bank, which fell by 0.37 percent to 136.00 rupees, and Hatton National Bank, which decreased by 0.33 percent to 383.25 rupees.
The total market turnover was recorded at 2.96 billion rupees, with the retail sector leading the way, generating 1.08 billion rupees in turnover.
In corporate news, L B Finance has successfully completed the registration of its merger with Associated Motor Finance Company with the Registrar General of Companies, following the approval of special resolutions by its shareholders on June 30, 2026. L B Finance shares ended the day down by 0.63 percent, closing at 158.75 rupees.
