Sri Lanka’s Stock Market Rebounds Following Recent Decline

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Friday, the Colombo Stock Exchange in Sri Lanka exhibited minimal changes, according to CSE data, with the benchmark All Share Price Index experiencing a slight increase of 0.09 percent.

The ASPI rose by 19.96 points, reaching a total of 21,780.27, while the more actively traded S&P SL20 index climbed by 0.27 percent, or 16.40 points, to settle at 6,048.13.

Among the positive influences on the ASPI were Hatton National Bank, which saw an increase of 0.90 percent to 394.00 rupees, and Cargills (Ceylon), which improved by 1.76 percent to 680.00 rupees. Conversely, Melstacorp experienced a decline of 0.96 percent, trading at 180.50 rupees, while Sampath Bank rose by 0.54 percent to 140.75 rupees.

Other notable stocks included Windforce, which dropped 1.79 percent to 44.00 rupees, and Central Finance Company, which increased by 0.98 percent to 231.75 rupees. LB Finance, however, decreased by 0.77 percent, trading at 161.00 rupees.

The market turnover reached 1.31 billion rupees, with the capital goods sector leading the way at 703.8 million rupees.

C. W. Mackie has declared that its Board of Directors has proposed a final dividend of one rupee and sixty cents (Rs. 1.60) per share for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. This total dividend payout is set to be 287,908,448 rupees and will require approval at the company’s 104th Annual General Meeting, which is scheduled for June 30, 2026.

The shares of C. W. Mackie were trading at 40.10 rupees, reflecting an increase of 1.01 percent. (Colombo/June05/2026)
