FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – The Colombo Stock Exchange in Sri Lanka experienced a positive closure on Friday, breaking a streak of weekly declines that resulted in a loss of 405.48 points since the previous Friday, according to data from the CSE.
For the week, the market recorded a decline of 1.83 percent. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) increased by 0.35 percent, equating to a rise of 75.53 points, bringing it to 21,773.25. Similarly, the S&P SL200 index rose by 0.25 percent, or 14.94 points, to reach 6,081.43.
Market turnover for the day was reported at 2 billion rupees. Analysts have indicated that investor sentiment on the exchange has been under pressure due to ongoing global uncertainties and instances of selective profit-taking among investors.
Notable gainers contributing to the ASPI included Ceylon Cold Stores, which rose by 4.25 rupees to reach 128, Haycarb, which increased by 8 rupees to 170.25, and Dialog Axiata, which saw a gain of 30 cents to settle at 44 rupees.
