FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – On Tuesday, the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) of Sri Lanka experienced a positive trading session, with the benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) rising by 0.67 percent, according to data from the exchange.
The ASPI increased by 143.89 points, reaching a total of 21,547. Similarly, the more actively traded S&P SL20 index saw a gain of 0.54 percent, which translates to an increase of 33.26 points, bringing it to 6,000.
Key stocks that bolstered the ASPI included Dialog Axiata, which saw a significant rise of 6.80 percent to close at 44.00 rupees, Sampath Bank, which increased by 0.72 percent to 139.75 rupees, LOLC Holdings with a 1.73 percent gain to 527.75 rupees, and Melstacorp, which went up by 0.70 percent to 179.00 rupees.
Conversely, some notable stocks that detracted from the index included Lion Brewery Ceylon, which fell by 3.27 percent to 1,713.25 rupees, John Keells Holdings, down 0.51 percent to 19.70 rupees, and Cargills (Ceylon), which decreased by 1.27 percent to 661.25 rupees.
The overall market turnover amounted to 2.16 billion rupees, with the capital goods sector leading this turnover at 791.2 million rupees.
In a separate financial update, Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide announced an increase in its losses for the quarter ending March 2026, reporting a net loss of 30.40 million rupees, compared to a loss of 16.51 million rupees for the same quarter in 2025. (Colombo/June09/2026)
